Raid

Raid

By: Dark Raven 510

Alawich kept his eyes closed. He could hear the screams of the older Monks outside the barrel he hid in. He could also hear the loud voices of the ones attacking them. Azlexi, raiders from the northern, pagan, murders. Their cruelty knew no bounds, and thirst for blood was endless. Alawich did not understand why they hated them, or why they went and raided their churches.

Suddenly the lid of the barrel came off and someone grabbed the back of his tunic. Alawich soon found himself face to face with a tall, bearded man, with large muscular arms and a big leather tunic with a large fur coat. In his left hand was a large axe, it’s head covered in northern runes, as well a fresh blood.

Alawich started to kick is legs. “Let me go!” The young boy tried to get free of the mans grip to no avail. The man laughed. “Or what lad?” The Azlexi held his axe to Alawich’s face. “You’ll pray to your god? “Thunor!” Alawich and the large man turned to see anothe Azlexi. He wore similar clothing and build to the other Azlexi, with only being a little bit shorter, as well as not having a large beard. Over his right arm was where 4 black feathers, probably from a raven. “You know my code, I won’t let you cut that boy, though we raid his home.” He placed his hand over the hilt to his sheathed blade. The other Azlexi, Thunor, gave a low growl, before shoving Alawich to a nearby wall. “Yes, Ɉanijar Edred.” Thunor said before running of to help in the raid elsewhere. Edred watched him run off, then turned and looked at Alawich. For a moment the two started at each other, then Edred walked away, of towards the shore, and the three Azlexi long ships that waited there. Alawich watch him go, and made a prayer that he did not have to experience such a event ever again.
